Born from a bad screen
ScreenTestLab started when the founder unboxed a brand-new monitor and discovered — three weeks past the return window — that it had a cluster of dead pixels in the center of the screen. The retailer refused a return, the manufacturer's warranty only covered "excessive" defects under ISO 13406-2, and there was no easy way to test the replacement before the return window closed.
The solution was simple: a single webpage that displays solid colors fullscreen, so anyone can spot pixel defects in 30 seconds before the return window closes. That evolved into the 20+ tool platform you see today — covering dead pixels, backlight bleed, color accuracy, refresh rate, ghosting, and comprehensive device-specific inspection guides.
Every tool runs entirely in your browser using native fullscreen APIs, CSS gradients, and JavaScript. There is no server-side image processing, no screen capture, no telemetry beyond anonymous pageview analytics. Your screen never leaves your device.
