Bit Depth
Bit depth (color depth) is the number of bits used to represent each color channel. 8-bit per channel (24-bit total) produces 16.7 million colors — the standard for most monitors. 10-bit per channel (30-bit total) produces 1.07 billion colors — required for true HDR and professional color work. 6-bit + FRC dithering approximates 8-bit but shows visible banding in gradients. The greyscale and gradient tests reveal your panel's true bit depth.
