Burn-in
Burn-in is permanent or semi-permanent ghost image on a display, caused by uneven pixel degradation. OLED and AMOLED panels are most susceptible because each pixel emits its own light — brighter pixels degrade faster. After thousands of hours showing the same static element (status bar, channel logo, HUD), those pixels become permanently dimmer. Image retention is temporary and fades; burn-in is permanent. Prevention: lower brightness, vary content, enable pixel-shifting, run pixel-refresh cycles.
